Bowling ball: checked or carry on?

I have 15 pounds of bowling, I want to take with me to Seattle this weekend. I fly Southwest Airlines. Should I check or do I do next? I do not want to verify because there is only one small bag and it could easily be stolen something in it.

Per the new rules and regs, your going to have to check it. Not be able to carry on board as it can be used as a weapon. Sorry.

WHAT? If a bowling ball can be used as a weapon, so can my samsonite carry on which weighs 15lbs right?

Don’t worry, the criteria for carry-on luggage is 40lbs a bag and as long as your bowling ball is in a bag which fits the measurement criteria (22′ by 14′ by 9′), its should be fine.

If it is a single or double bag that will not exceed the specified dimensions for fitting below the seat, that’s fine to carry on. If your bowling bag has wheels and is a roller type, then I’d check it onto the plane and not carry it on. I’d always check my bags in when flying because they were all triple ball bags and had wheels.
