Okay I am buying my dad a bowling ball for christmas

UGH I dont wanna buy my dad a girls ball but anyways I need advice for a good ball I would ask my friend but he is in Iraq and I can only talk to him when he gets a chance to call and that could be tomorrow or way after Christmas
So I was looing around and got a good feel about the

  1. I am on a bowling team, and one of my teammates owns a Black Widow. He’s a guy, so you don’t have to worry about buying a girls ball. Anyway, if you can get a Black widow, DO IT! My teammate was bowling with his friends 10 year old ball, and when he got his ball, he improved an insane amount!! But, it depends on whether your dad throws a straight ball or if it curves. If it curves, get a Black Widow. If it is straight, ask the guy at the pro shop in your local bowling alley. I don’t know anything about straight balls!

  2. Just a dumb question to start things – Does your father want a bowling ball or would he make use of it? My father bought bowling balls for my brothers and I many years ago. One of the brothers bowled for a few years on a church league but the others have only used them every few years at best.

That said, the ball was a Brunswick, from a local bowling shop run by a serious bowler.
The advantage is that you can give him the ball and then let the local person swap it for a different one if it is more appropriate and fit it to him.

I would suggest going to a bowling alley and checking out the leagues for people at your dad’s level. You can probably get some people to chat with you about what ones are good and where to get them.

  3. Well the Fury is an awsome ball! Don’t know why someone would say it’s a girls ball lol. I love my Hammers, you just cant go wrong. The New Black Widow is an excellent choice, my buddy had the new Black Widow Pearl reactive and on his first day of using it threw his first perfect game! I had the old version and loved it but I might suggest the new Hammer No Mercy Beat’n. Monster hook and long carry. Check these 2 web sights and see what you like.

Oh and thanks so much for your dad and what he’s doing!

  4. It all depends on how your father bowls. What hi average is and the lane conditions he bowls on. There are alot balls on the market and how they are set up and drilled will also make a difference. The guy who said straight and curve does not know anything about bowling. As it is a hook not a curve. and even a straight ball will hook if drilled right. A mid range ball will work fine for him. Got all the site that have been mentioned. All the manufacturers have mid priced balls and it is just a matter of choice. I have had 16 300 games and used alot of different manufacturers equipment. But sart by asking you dad how he did last week and this should give you a good starting place.. Good Luck!!
