What bowling ball should I consider?

This question is for knowledgeable bowlers only. I played for about 11 years with a $30 plastic ball that I started learning to hook with. Over the years, I developed what would probably be described as a cranker style roll, just to get that dang ball to hook over what always seemed to be the oiliest side of the lane (left-handed). I received a Psycho Raw Hammer ball as a gift last year, and I have had the HARDEST time getting it into the pocket. That thing will go from gutter to gutter on me. I have not found a lane oily enough that I can get that ball into the pocket with consistency. I feel like I’m having to change my whole game just to get this ball to work, and that’s obviously not what I was thinking when I thought about having a new, quality ball.

Can someone recommend a good quality ball that maybe would hook less? Or should I just have it redrilled?

I read your question to my husband who is an EXCELLENT bowler.. and probably a better coach than bowler sometimes. This is what he says….”I suggest getting a new ball. I can’t really suggest a ball. I enjoy my ebonite and my black widow pearl. Try to get something with a pearl finish and not a matte finish because the matte finish tend to have more of a hook on them”. Hopefully this helps! Good luck in your search for the perfect ball.
